SA 1 is around the corner! Urghhh!

Beautiful Nature.

Nikko, Japan. June 2006. I visited Japan with my family last year
during the June Holidays.
Hi,
The SA1 is around the corner(coming soon). We will be doing lots of revision and finishing Unit 4 of the English Text. Today we heard a few famous pieces of poetry. I love the one about the Golden Daffodils. The word 'inner eye' in that poem refers to our imagination. A child's imagination is great. 4 Commitment pupils must express your imagination through your own blogs. In it you can write, draw, use pictures and videos to showcase your creativity.

We have to enjoy life and be appreciative of what we have. Singapore in spite of being a 'concrete jungle' has a lot of trees and nature. All of you are encouraged to take photos of yourself in nature and submit them to me. The photos can be either in digital or print.
Please send in your photo by 28 June 2007. I'll post some examples for you to see.

On Friday, while you are blogging at Comp Lab 4 (Level 4), I'll be giving you an oral examination to prepare for the Examination. You are also encouraged to do your own Compositions next week. I'll mark the scripts, with you next to me, after school, during reading time. I have a set of Composition questions that I'll distribute on Monday. Please hand in the Composition with your mind map.

Xishan Floorball is doing very well in the opening rounds of the National Interschool Floorball Championships. The girls beat Fengshan 19-0 and CHIJ OLN 12-0. While the boys beat ACS Primary 9-1 and Huamin 5-3. I hope that both the teams make it to the top 4 of the Nationals and if possible win the Championships.

Kampong Glam

Farhan, with the Glam Tree in his background. The Glam Tree is renown for its medicinal value.
Isn't the mosque beautiful from this angle?

The visit to the mosque taught us about some of the practices of our Muslim friends. We learnt about the 5 pillars of Islam and their prayer timing.

The Palace Grounds.

At the Sultan's Palace.

On the road again.

Remember, DON'T STAND IN THE BUS!

I love my hat!!!

Can you spot the Raffles statue?

Our class had a great time by the Singapore River and at Kampong Glam. We visited the place where Sir Stamford Raffles, the founder of modern Singapore, landed. The buildings were so 'colonial' and yet they had a modern touch. My favourite building is the Victoria Memorial Hall. It looks so majestic! We took some nice photos with the scenic background.
At Kampong Glam, we visited the Sultan's Palace and a mosque. What I enjoyed most was the delicious Nasi Padang that I had at a street corner restraunt. The sambal belachan was 'pedas'!
I hope that many of you learnt about Malay Culture from this Heritage Tour.
We smelt some perfumes.
Tasted some food.
Felt some Malay/Arab fabrics.
And saw many buildings like the mosque and palace!
