22 Mar 2007 4 Commitment BLOG

Hi 4 Commitment,

The first week of school has flown by! I enjoyed the English lessons that
Ms Amy gave. Your work on the petals and what your groups thought and presented was interesting. I was amazed at some of the reasons that you gave for keeping a diary. It was interesting that some groups felt that a diary was a great outlet for them to pour out their true feelings. I feel that it is always good to express yourself to you friends, family and even teachers. Keeping problems to ourselves is not the best way to deal with them. Sharing problems with adults or mature friends can result in very good possible solutions being suggested.

On Friday we will be having our first day of blogging. We will try to set up your email addresses and blog sites. Please remember the guidelines that I gave in our first Blog.

Today is my daughters birthday. She just turned 8.
Her name is Mona Hanae Gomez. We celebrated her birthday at home with a dinner. On Saturday her friends will be coming over for tea. I'll be organizing the games.
I hope that all of you have relook at your academic effort and how you are studying. If you need help please ask for help.

Maths Remedial restarts on Monday from 1.15-2.15pm. This is followed by English Remedial from 2.30-3.30pm. On Wednesday's there is Maths Supplementary for our high fliers who did very well in CA1 and are aiming to get Band 1 for the SA1. Every Friday will be our blogging day. We will be using the blogging platform to improve your writing. Please bring a dictionary for the session as it will come in handy.

Cheers
Hector Gomez

20/3/07 Tuesday Pizza Fractions & I am Special

4 Commitment had a very interesting English lesson on 'I am special'. Ms Cheong introduced the lesson with a slide show of wheelchair bound people playing tennis. How fortune they are in spite of their disability, I thought. Many of them had wide smiles across their faces. Yet, many of us, who are so fortunate to be healthy and fit, complain about many issues and things. We say that we have to walk so far to get to school or to go to the market with our parents. But, actually, we should be happy that we can walk!
Are we really special? I think that all of you in 4 Commitment are special. We are all different and have some talents that we need to try our best to develop. Have you discovered something that you are good at? If you haven't, I'am sure that you will sooner or later!

Our Maths lesson on Pizza Fractions showed us that certain fractions(slices) added together to form a whole pizza. Did you notice certain patterns? 1/2 go with 1/4 and 1/8. Can you name a few more fractions that go together to form a whole pizza?

Our report card will be given out on Wednesday. I'm sure that those of you who worked hard to achieve your targets which we set in January will 'harvest the fruits of your success'. Those who have done badly, need to relook at your effort and how your are studying. Feel free to 'comment' at this blog.
Please send me your targets for SA1 by commenting on this blog or posting it on your own blog.

Enjoy the pictures!

Cheers,
Hector Gomez
